Instead of telling you about a conference we’re going to be hitting, we wanted to tell you about how you can use SoundCloud for the conferences or events you put on.
Using SoundCloud with your event is a great way to spread the wisdom and information beyond the four walls of your event space to the wider world. And using audio means you don’t have to mess around with video tech. It’s a lot easier to grab a portable recorder or even a computer and capture the sound of the people speaking and upload it to SoundCloud.

Last week Berlin hosted the Prix Europa awards, which is the European Broadcasting Festival. It’s an opportunity for TV and Radio producers to submit their features, documentaries, series, dramas to various categories and then be part of the jury with their fellow competitors. For seven days the finest in European radio gather out at the RBB building in west Berlin to scrutinise each others’ work. Starting at nine and running way into evening there was a lot of listening to be done. Our friends at the Hackney Podcast, for example, won the Best Radio Concept of the Year for their Hackney Hear app — a GPS triggered audio app. Take a listen to this to get a better idea:
Congrats to all the participants, the winners, the contributors, the jury members and thanks to the team at Prix Europa for inviting SoundCloud to the event this year to talk all things SoundCloud and also get involved in the event!
SoundCloud is proud to be a part of this year’s Radiovision Festival in New York City this weekend. The festival brings together DIY tinkerers and respected thinkers in the world of radio and technology.
The day-long symposium on Saturday includes a panel about audio beyond radio, moderated by our own Jim Colgan. Here’s a note from Jim about the festival:
We are proud to announce this year we will be attending the Third Coast Conference out in Chicago! The conference is a unique opportunity to spend three days with hundreds of radio producers, artists, students, and audio enthusiasts to share tips, tricks and talk audio and storytelling shop. With the likes of AIR, Hindenburg, NPR, PRX, American Public Media, Transom all attending, we know we’ll be in good company!
Starting this Friday October 5th, SoundCloud will be hosting a “Gather Round”, which will give radio producers and audio heads a like the opportunity to chat SoundCloud, how to make the most of the platform and share experiences. Make sure to look out for @JimColgan and @EvanTenenbaum and say hello!
