In 2012, dubstep pioneer Mala set himself an ambitious task, travelling to Havana to retrieve sounds, with the aim of mixing soundsystem culture with the traditional melodies and instruments of Cuban music.

While he had a strong cult following from his previous releases on his own label, he’d never released anything digitally before: we chatted to Alexander Stevenson from Brownswood Recordings to find out what role SoundCloud played in the digital release of Mala In Cuba.
